Never be at a loss for a quick and simple meal! Keep sealed bags of cooked ground beef in the freezer in individual or family-sized portions. It thaws out quickly and can be used for your favorite spaghetti sauce, simple meat-and-rice meals, tacos, easy-to-make Nachos, and more! Watch for sales! When your market has ground beef on sale, stock up. Cook portions of ground meat in with a variety of seasonings and add-ins:
Drain the cooked meat and allow to cool for 15 minutes. Put cooked ground meat into freezer-strength resealable bags (I prefer Ziploc Freezer quart-sized bags). Squeeze out as much air as possible, seal, and freeze. Label as Spaghetti, Basic, Taco, etc., to suit the seasonings and add-ins that you used for that portion. Put in freezer. Next time you need to make a quick meal, you'll have the ground meat already cooked and seasoned! Simply take a bag out of the freezer and either allow to thaw or pop into the microwave to defrost (use your microwave's Defrost feature, or cook for a few minutes until thawed). Never be at a loss when your family asks, "What's for supper?" |
