About Jan

Have you ever tried to "shred" lettuce or cabbage? It can be really messy. But I've got a great tip for you:

Use a bread knife!

Wash the head of lettuce or cabbage. Cut head in half, or in quarters, depending on how much you want to shred.

On a vegetable cutting board, place lettuce/cabbage flat side down. Starting at one edge, using the bread knife, place the knife about 1/4-inch from the edge and start "sawing" down toward the cutting board.

This will go very quickly, and the lettuce/cabbage will be cut in nice shredded pieces! Great for use as lettuce for tacos and burritos, or cabbage for coleslaw!
