It will be Halloween, Thanksgiving, and
then Christmas sooner than you think! Start planning for the baking you'll be doing this holiday season, and the baked goods you'll be giving as gifts. To prepare your kitchen for holiday baking, plan on checking your spices and other baking ingredients. Go to Jan's Tip #2 (http://jansdough.janktheproofer.com/Nov2004Tip.htm) for a free printable shopping list of things you'll need to stock up on! Giving homemade bread (cookies, pastries, and other baked goods) as a gift is always a hit! Get tips and free printable gift tags at Jan's Tip #3 (http://jansdough.janktheproofer.com/Tip3.htm). Bake ahead of time and freeze your baked goods. Jan's Tip #4 provides good tips for freezer-wrapping your baked goods (http://jansdough.janktheproofer.com/Tip4.htm). You've got busy days in the kitchen coming up. Jan's Tip #8 will help you prepare for a busy baking day (http://jansdough.janktheproofer.com/Tip8.htm). You're going to be baking goodies that have raisins and dried fruit as ingredients. Get great tips for how to cut and chop fruits for recipes in Jan's Tip #11 (http://jansdough.janktheproofer.com/Tip11.htm). I like to bake bread in half- or quarter-sized loaf pans. I wrap them all, production line style, and tie on a gift tag. Between Thanksgiving and Christmas I never go anywhere empty-handed! Having gifts baked and wrapped ahead makes it easy to give gifts to everyone---especially those "unexpected" guests or visits that you make! Happy Holidays...and Happy Baking! |
