Measuring Equivalents Keep these measuring equivalents handy to help you when you increase or decrease a recipe! Abbreviations: tsp = teaspoon tbsp = tablespoon c = cup pt = pint qt = quart oz = ounce lb = pound
General Equivalents:
3 tsp = 1 tbsp 1/3 c = 5 tbsp + 1 tsp 1 c = 16 tbsp 2 c (liquid) = 1 pt 4 c (liquid) = 1 qt 1 oz = 2 tbsp 16 oz = 1 lb
One-Pound Equivalents:
2 c BUTTER = 1 lb 4 c FLOUR = 1 lb 2 c SUGAR = 1 lb 2 c MILK = 1 lb 9 medium EGGS = 1 lb 2-1/2 c OATMEAL = 1 lb
Other Equivalents: 1 package of Fleischmann's Active Dry Yeast (recommended for Jan's Dough Sourdough Bread) = 1-3/4 tsp 1/2 package of Fleischmann's Active Dry Yeast = 7/8 tsp 1 No. 300 can (14-16 oz) = 1-3/4 cups 1 No. 10 can (6-1/2 - 7-1/2 lb) = 12-13 cups
Use these equivalents to help to increase and reduce recipes, especially when "cooking for one" or "cooking for an army"!
